Ghad Elthawra Party Abroad calls upon international committees to confront violations of human rights & civil society

On the occasion of the ‘International Day for the Right to Reveal the Truth’, which was approved by the United Nations General Assembly on the twenty-fourth of March of each year, as a day to commemorate the victims of gross and systematic violations of human rights, Ghad Elthawra Party Abroad warns that these violations still exist and are exacerbating in many countries especially those groan at the cruelty of totalitarian governments.

On this day, the Party joins all the strugglers in celebrating the courage and determination of the victims, representatives of civil society persecuted and detainees in all parts of the world in general, prisoners of conscience in particular, and everyone who tirelessly seeks a better future for their country, as truth is the only way to justice, equality and the preservation of human dignity.

Ghad Elthawra Party Abroad is keen to pay tribute to human rights defenders everywhere, and renews its call for commitment to work at all levels to show the facts with the aim of achieving justice and to provide effective means of redress for victims of oppression to restore their ability to express opinion in an atmosphere of freedom and respect for others.

The Party calls on the global conscience to be vigilant about all practices that work to rob the victims of the right to know the truth about human rights, and calls on all international truth commissions to intensify their role and confront all that occurs in terms of violence, oppression, confiscation of opinion and curtailing the role of civil society and the peaceful opposition from exercising its role as a basic partner in building their communities.

The Committee on Human Rights and Civil Society of Ghad Elthawra Party Abroad draws attention to what the United Nations asserts that victims of state oppression, torture and enforced disappearance are usually deprived of the right to know the truth of what they and their families are exposed to. Therefore, revealing the truth is a confirmation of their status. These victims as holders of rights in these societies they suffer within.

On this occasion, the Party affirms that the right to know the truth about all grave violations against opponents and human rights activists is an inherent right that does not fall under the statute of limitations and is inalienable, which means knowing the facts in full without diminution or falsification, and also knowing the circumstances surrounding these violations and all those who participated in, and bringing all those responsible to fair trials.

Ghad Elthawra Party Abroad warns that the absence of real information, which is one of the basic rights for the enjoyment of human rights, would undermine any path of transparency or the ability to hold governments accountable for their transgressions, and this absence of truth will not enable any citizen to influence social policies.

Especially, this right requires the issuance of laws guaranteeing it, and practices based on international standards that most countries of the world have signed.
